The National Museums of Scotland have taken the unusual step of extending the loan period of late Roman silverware to the Whithorn Trust.

This follows a successful season for the Trust which has decided to remain open until the end of the year rather than close this week as originally scheduled.

A significant part of the Traprain Law hoard, the largest collection ever found outside the Roman empire, has been a popular added attraction for visitors to Scotland’s earliest Christian site since its arrival in April.

The Trust, will be offering a reduced entry price to view both the hoard and its own permanent exhibition. Opening times, including the coffee and gift shop, are 11am – 4.00pm daily.
