Whithorn minister, the Rev Alex Currie is off to Africa in October to try and conquer Mt Kilimanjaro to raise money for charity.

At 19,341 feet ‘Kilie’ is Africa’s highest mountain and the route planned will take six days to complete.

Following the trek, he intends spending time as part of a work party helping the charity ‘Vine Trust’. The Vine Trust is an international interdenominational volunteering charity which seeks to enable volunteers to make a real and significant difference to some of the poorest children and communities in the world.

Specifically, Alex will be assisting with their building programme providing homes for vulnerable families in Tanzania. Alex was part of a work party in 2013 and is well aware of the vital work that the Vine Trust does in a land of outstanding beauty and real poverty.

If you feel you would like to sponsor Alex in climbing Kilimanjaro (all money raised will go directly to the Vine Trust) you can do so on his ‘Just Giving’ page or by sending donations direct to him at The Manse, 20 St Ninian’s Grove, Whithorn, DG8 8PT.
