As has been the tradition for over 60 unbroken years, Kirkmaiden Carol Singers were out in the Parish on December 23 at Portlogan and in Drummore on Christmas Eve.

Pat McClymont led them on 23rd and Betty Beck on 24th. Collectors were Ena Drummond, Robert McGuffie and Murray Irving. A lovely supper was enjoyed at the end of each night courtesy of Carol Rennison and Margaret McGuffie.

This year the singers were benefited by extra lighting to help them see the music. These were headlamps and wrist torches donated to the Parish by QinetiQ. The photograph shows some of the carol singers wearing the new torches.

A total of £810 was raised for Erskine Hospital for disabled ex-servicemen.

Betty Beck, organist and choir mistress of Kirkmaiden Parish, said: “We have been carol singing at Christmas in the parish for as long as I can care to remember and all the money raised goes to Erskine Hospital. Once again I would like to thank the generosity of the locals whio have once again allowed us to raise a most magnificent amount and of course I must also thank all those who took part in the actual singing on thr night and in particular Carol and Margaret for supplying the lovely supper much enjoyed by all those taking part.”
