‘Rage against the machine’ in Newton Stewart

On Friday 17 July, a road-show type event for young and new drivers, will take place at Graeme Brown Car Sales, Holmpark Industrial Estate, Newton Stewart.

The event is being organised by Constable Billy Dodds from the Police Service of Scotland’s Crime and Violence Reduction Unit, based at Newton Stewart Police Station.

He said: “This event, which runs from 7pm and 9pm on July 17 is geared towards young and new drivers from Newton Stewart and the Machars area’s and it’s to give them the opportunity to interact with Police Service of Scotland Officers and partner agencies to learn different aspects of car care, from the basics on how to check engine oil, coolant system levels, tyre depths and how to change a wheel. It will also discuss driver behaviour and the laws covering excessive noise, modifications to vehicles, and the legislation covering the most commonly committed offences and the dangers facing young and new drivers within the first two years of passing their driving test.

“Special guests, including Steven Broll, Chairperson of Machars Car Club, and Stephen Blaikie from OCD Valeting, Dalbeattie, will be on hand to discuss their areas of business and for those attending there will also be an opportunity to enter a free prize draw to win some great car care products”
