Christian congregations in the Stewartry took part on 31 March 2016 in a relay under the auspices of the Pray for Scotland “Prayer Shield for Scotland” initiative.

A Prayer Shield conveyed to members of Castle Douglas Community Life Church from Dumfries was passed on to congregations in Kirkcudbright who in turn took it on to Christians in Newton Stewart gathered at Cinnamon, Newton Stewart.

The carrying of the prayer shield across Scotland in relays during the Scottish Parliamentary Elections seeks to “focus attention on the country’s need to pray that wisdom and guidance be given to the people of Scotland to make the right decision in the polls and that the power of God will be released to transform the nation and each community”.
