Port William Carnival Week winners

Carnival Week in Port William is over for another year so here’s a look back at some of the winners of both competitions and community awards during the week.

Port William Provost Ethel McHallum presented the Citizen of the Year 2016 award to John Kevan.

Moira Adams received the Brain Highman Community Group of the Year on behalf of the First Responders from Anne Highman,

Jane Nelson received the good neighbour award from Mrs Jean Broll.

Port William Pet Show winner was Daisy the puppy with owner Louise Rennie, Carnival Queen Erin Old and the judge Ian Gemmell.

Sandcastle competition winners:

5 and under; Anna, Jessie, Jane, Angus and Hamish. Maci and Leah Spiderman

6-9 yrs Stanley and Owen, Tiger Team, Rebecca Renton

Pairs bowling winners Doit Kiltie and Donald Lockhart and runners-up Alan McLelland and Junior Kiltit.

The Junior Bowling Competition for the Betty Ambrose Shield was won by Adam Old and the runner-up Graeme Smith. The beaten semi-finalists were Junior Kiltie and Brogan Lockhart.

A Beetle Drive in the Grand Marquee was organised by Tizzy Irving from Dumfries and helped by her mother Annie Murray.
