Community volunteers from the village of Port William gave the streets tidy up last weekend to have the place looking its best for the start of Carnival Week.

They spent the day cleaning weeds from pavements and picking up rubbish. One community councillor said: “It’s a disgrace that the council don’t do this anymore. But somebody has to do it!”

Port William’s annual Carnival Week begins on Saturday, August 2 and finishes on Sunday, August 9.
