Police issue festive safety message

Police are urging the public to take personal safety and security seriously during December and ensure criminals don’t enjoy the festive season.

Officers have provided a festive list of dos and donts to help people stay safe - at home, online and while out and about.

People need to be alert at cash machines and to look after their purses, wallets or bags.

When online, shoppers are reminded to make sure their web browser and internet security is up to date and to look for the padlock icon in the address line before entering any credit or debit card details.

Keep your home secure by locking all windows and doors when out and keeping gifts out of view. When planning a night out, stick with friends, charge your mobile and think about how you will get home safely. For drivers, the message is: be aware of changing road conditions and, of course, do not drink and drive.
