Gatehouse Music Society are looking forward to a visit from Opera Alba at the start of December.

After a sparkling start to the season with the Tim Kliphuis Trio’s programme, “Gypsy Seasons” which centred on Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, the members and friends of Gatehouse Music Society are looking forward to Opera Alba, a quartet of singers with a piano accompanist. Daisy Henderson, Jenny Wilson-Best sopranos, Steven Faughey, baritone and Adam Magee, tenor all have extensive experience on the opera stage and concert platform, and Derek Clark their accompanist is an experienced repetiteur and conductor. All do, or have worked with Scottish Opera, as well as pursuing free-lance careers, and state their aim is “bringing opera to the people of Scotland and beyond.”

The music in their varied programme includes highlights from the broad range of opera music, with favourites from Verdi, Mozart, Puccini, J Strauss, Gilbert and Sullivan, and Gershwin. A few surprises are anticipated as well.

Do come and join us at the concert which will take place on Thursday, December 4, at 7.30pm in Gatehouse Parish Church. Tickets are available at the door and students and school children have free entry.
