Port Logan Hall committee are delighted to announce that they have been successful in its application for a grant from the National Lottery Awards for All.

The committee were given the sum of £10,000 to repair the roof and install a new kitchen.

They also received the sum of £2000 from the Galloway Association of Glasgow to purchase new front doors.

A committee spokesperson said: “Work has been ongoing over the last few weeks, by Jamie Hyslop and his team from Newton Stewart, repairing the hall roof, doing a very good job, despite the wind and rain, which we have been subjected to, this so called summer.

“The new kitchen, supplied by Anderson’s, sports a new gas cooker (which will be very useful in the case of power cuts) new units, worktop, sink etc. All the plumbing work has been expertly done by Matthew Turner, a resident of Port Logan. Joinery work was done by James Fyfe & Son, who also did repair work to the emergency exit doors.

“The grant from the Galloway Association of Glasgow was to purchase the new front doors. These were supplied and fitted by R&S Windows who also very generously included two new windows to match the doors.

“The committee would like to thank all the above mentioned plus Dickson & Mahan, electrics; Tim Scott, gas installation; Paul Williamson, carpets and Ian Bingham, WBS Signs, for all their kindness, generosity and patience throughout the whole process. Thanks also to Alan Macaulay who has spent many hours in the hall painting, cleaning and general supervision of the project.

“We have many more plans and ideas, that we would like to fulfil but in the meantime Port Logan Hall is available for hire for weddings, social and family occasions etc. if you are interested in hiring the hall please contact our Hall Keeper, Jean Humphrey, telephone numbmer 01776 860673 or any committee member.”
