After 28 years as a special constable with the police. Mhairi Marshall has decided to hang up her baton.

Mhairi was honoured by her colleagues at a special evening in the Creebridge House Hotel last Saturday.

Inspector Amanda Scott commented: “I would like to commend Mhairi on the completion of 28 years service as a Special Constable. She has served with Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary and Police Scotland. The fact that she has given up so much of her time to the Special Constabulary is testament to her commitment to the community of Newton Stewart and her full time Police colleagues. Her expertise and local knowledge have made her a friendly and reassuring face whilst on patrol and I have enjoyed the pleasure of being able to work with her.

“I wish her all the best now that she has decided to retire and personally thank her for her contribution, dedication, good humour and support”.
