McCormick & Nicholson Solicitors of Newton Stewart have run a successful campaign this year asking their generous clients if they were ‘Willing to Help’ once again.

The scheme this year was in favour of the League of Friends of Newton Stewart Hospital. Staff at McCormick & Nicholson are delighted to report that, thanks to the generosity of their clients, they have raised £3,080.00 in aid of the League of Friends of Newton Stewart Hospital.

Mrs Mareth Irvine, the chairperson of the League of Friends, Mrs Pam Woods, the treasurer of the League of Friends, and Mrs Vivian Jess met with McCormick and Nicholson representatives Veronica Love, Harry Sheddon and Alice Da Prato, the team involved in preparation of Wills and collection of donations, when they presented a cheque for the collected amount earlier this week.

Mrs Irvine confirmed that the League of Friends planned to use the donations to purchase a second ‘Stedy Support’, a piece of equipment assisting patients to stand and other specialised equipment to assist people with specific needs. The League of Friends recently provided all the hospital wards with new fans and new televisions.

A spokesperson for McCormick and Nicholson said: “Their biggest ongoing cost is keeping their bus running. They collect users from all over the Machars to bring people from outlying areas into the Riverside Day Centre four days a week. They also transport people to access respite care and to other facilities. McCormick and Nicholson have been delighted to help with these projects.”
