The CHAPTERHOUSE THEATRE COMPANY will perform a open air play adapted from Emily Bronte famous novel Wuthering Heights at Castle Kennedy Gardens Stranraer on Friday 8th August at 7.00pm.

A spokesman for the theatre compant said: “Chapterhouse are proud to announce the addition of a brand new adaptation of Brontë’s unyielding story of love and obsession, Wuthering Heights, to the stage at part of their 2014 open-air tour.

Wuthering Heights.

“Chapterhouse have established a tradition in period plays with critically acclaimed, sell out performances of Austen and Gaskell adaptations. This year they will be showcasing their first venture into the slightly grittier world of the Brontë’s.

“Chapterhouse Theatre Company is proud to present Emily Bronte’s classic love story set on the beautiful, mysterious wilderness of the Yorkshire moors. This treasured story of enduring love and passion has thrilled and entranced for generations and is now brought alive on stage in an adaptation by award winning writer Laura Turner and presented at some of the most beautiful open-air venues across the UK and Ireland.”

Script writer, Laura Turner, says she feels honoured to have had the opportunity to adapt one of her all time favourite romantic novels.

She said: “When Chapterhouse asked me to write an adaptation of Wuthering Heights for this season I was really thrilled because I first read the novel when I was fourteen and had a really strong reaction. It’s a bit like Marmite, people either love it or hate it, and I fell in love. It’s a challenging story to adapt, spanning two generations, but I hope that I have managed to instil all the passion and wildness of Emily Brontë’s masterpiece and that people fall for Catherine and Heathcliff just as I have.”

Can Catherine and Heathcliff’s everlasting love bring happiness or will the very forces of nature and the moors tear them apart? Join Chapterhouse Theatre Company with family and friends for an evening of unforgettable theatre under the stars.
