Itches
There is a great amount of folklore told throughout the world in regard to itches on various parts of the body, here are a few from Galloway.
An itch in your eye or nose was a sign that you were about to be upset in the near future.
If you got an itch on your elbow this was reputed to signify that you were about to get a strange bedfellow. An itch on the palm of your hand usually signified that the person was about to come into money, while an itch on the foot meant that one would soon be going somewhere that they had never visited before.
An itch or tingling sensation in your left ear mans that someone is speaking ill of you and to combat this it is necessary to bite both of your pinkies at the same time, this would cause those who spoke ill of you to bite their tongues. An itch or tingling in your right ear, however, signifies that someone is saying complimentary about you. (Penman, pp 23-24)
