Dundrennan gig raises £700 for cancer charity
Scruffy Buzzards in concert: John Trainor; Bruce McKenzie, Richie Hamilton and Kim Ayres
ON Saturday 28 January, Dundrennan was the venue for a very special gig by Scottish singer/songwriter Dave Robb. Dave has toured with The Proclaimers and supported Christy Moore and has long been known as Scotland’s Bouzouki Playing Bard. He has been living and writing in Belfast since 1999 where he has become a significant figure in the Belfast music scene.
The support act for the evening were Scruffy Buzzards, Kirkcudbright’s newest band.
The event was in aid of The Emma Maltby Memorial Fund, a Yorkshire-based charity run by Jane Stevens, an old friend of event organiser Isobel Henkelmann. Jane set up the foundation in memory of her sister and father who both died at a young age of cancer and it funds learning mentors for young people living with cancer.
A raffle, which included generous donations from Lily Knowles, Brambles, Mulberries, and Halls in Kirkcudbright was held and this along with the bar and ticket sales raised £700 for the charity.
