Two members of the Rotary Club of Kirkcudbright, Keith Mannion and Mike Duguid, delivered 40 bikes to the charity Jole Rider which have been collected and donated by Killie Can Cycle, a charity based in Kilmarnock.
Both charities are benefiting from the money raised at a Sportive run by the Rotary Club of Kirkcudbright in August. Most of the 40 bikes will be transported to The Gambia specifically to help children attend school. It has been a hugely successful project with 12,660 bikes having been delivered. Now, the number of pupils achieving the entry requirement for university has more than doubled as a direct result of the bicycles.
