John’s lights the way for the Queen

Port William’s last surviving World War Two veteran, John Dodds, lit a beacon for Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th birthday last night on the Harbour Green, Port William.

John, who celebrated his own 90th birthday last week, said he was “delighted and very honoured” to light the flame as the evening sun was setting.
