Healthy Working Lives has shown its support for the Stair Park Community Garden Centre with a grant of £150 to buy new tools. Just two years ago the site was an unloved patch of waste ground but thanks to a dedicated team of hardworking volunteers it’s been transformed into a flourishing, productive garden.
Healthy Working Lives Advisor Richard Smith said: “The Stair Park Community Garden Centre provides practical work experience for school leavers and other adults with learning difficulties. Many of them have no academic qualifications and this project is designed to help build their confidence while they learn new skills.
“I have been helping the group for over a year and it’s great to see the progress they’ve made. The garden is now blooming and so are the people who have been working on it.”
