After the sparkle, emotions and laughter of the opera world at our December concert the members of Gatehouse Music Society look forward to a visit from The Trumpet Shall Sound, a trumpet and organ duo.

The artists are Grant Golding, trumpet and Matt Edwards, organ, who plan to bring us a varied programme of music from their current repertoire which ranges from the baroque to the contemporary. Included are the Reiche/Clarke Albassen/Trumpet Voluntary, a Purcell Sonata, Handel’s Lascia chio pianga, Concerto in Dm by Marcello, Bohme’s Concertino in Fm and Golding’s arrangement of Bizet’s Carmen Suite. Matt, who will be playing the recently installed Viscount Envoy organ, is the Director of Music at the Thomas Coats Memorial Church in Paisley, and Grant is a Music Instructor for Dumfries and Galloway Council’s video conferencing music tuition project, who is an Endorsed Artist for Jupiter.

The season concludes on Sunday 22 March 2015 with a return visit from the Solway Sinfonia Orchestra. The programme will include works by Chaminade and Haydn and will introduce a new piece for double bassoon, speaker and strings by their conductor, Geoffrey Keating.

Both these events will take place in Gatehouse Parish Church at 7.30pm.

Tickets at the door. Students and school children free.
