Galloway Explorers tackle the Apex Challenge

Galloway Explorers were tired, but jubilant after a successful weekend away at then Scouts Apex challenge weekend at Bramham Park in Leeds.

Three teams from the Galloway Explorer Unit entered and were put through their paces with challenges such as grass sledging whilst using a stick with a nail in it to burst balloons on the downward slope, crawling 300ft through a specially adapted ‘cave bus’, navigating around the huge estate in the dark and avoiding the ‘catchers’ who were hiding in the woods waiting to catch the Explorers and take away valuable points they had gained at the different challenge bases. Each team had 6 hours to complete their tasks and all finished in the wee small hours of Sunday morning. The event was incredibly well organised and a huge amount of effort was put in to make it an adventurous and exciting exercise.

In order to keep giving these youngsters exciting and challenging experiences we are always looking for ways to fundraise. There are still tickets left to our latest fundraiser, our Ceilidh at the Cocoabean on the 1st of May. Please contact Jennifer Russell on 07980-987534 if you would like a ticket for a very worthy cause.
