The Fine Art Society’s inaugural show of Galloway Pictures at the Harbour Cottage Gallery, Kirkcudbright opens this Saturday 13 August at 1pm.

The show includes works by the Faed family, William Hanna Clarke, William Mouncey, Charles Oppenheimer, William Robson, E A Taylor and Cecile Walton.

In addition to these painters, 20th century artists’ work is also on show, many of whom were visitors to the south-west and whose works are familiar to a community that has grown up alongside an artists’ colony over generations.

A valuation day will take place on Tuesday 23, when Emily Walsh, Director of The Fine Art Society and Specialist in Scottish art, will be at the Harbour Cottage Gallery, and will be happy to look at paintings and advise on their value. The exhibition, ‘Galloway Pictures & 20th Century Scottish Art’ runs until Monday 29 August and entry is free of charge. The Harbour Cottage is Castle Bank, Kirkcudbright. Opening times: 10am-5pm Monday to Saturday 2pm-5pm on Sundays.
