An exciting and varied exhibition of artwork, inspired by the natural beauty of Galloway, from an eclectic mix of local artists and makers. Nine local artists/makers are coming together to showcase exhibits full of variety, fresh ideas and outlooks.

Brought together by their friendship and love of the Galloway area, each exhibitor has their own unique artistic. From stunning photography, to textural art, glass and watercolour, the Galloway Creatives have something that should appeal to every taste. There is even a twist on ancient handicrafts and of course, the inclusion of natural wood craft which has to be seen to be believed.

The Galloway Creatives are:

The Monchrum Artist - A F Raw

Fran has lived on the outskirts of Mochrum since 2003 and takes inspiration for her wall hangings from the timeless beauty of this area of South West Scotland called The Machars. Her unique art is created to reflect the landscape and textures of the countryside surrounding her secluded cottage.

Leaflock Arts - Tracy Collins

Tracy’s artwork is influenced by her life in Glentrool, in the Galloway Forest. The artwork is not a realistic depiction of an actual place but more about the memory of an atmostphere or mood or view experienced while walking.

Bothyart - Sandra Jaekel

Sandra is a self-taught artists working predominantly in soft pastels/ pastel pencils and in watercolour. She has recently begun to specialise in painting animals, trying to capture the essence of their character, the texture and softness of their coat along with the personality within the eyes.

Elegant Originals - Caroline Townsend-Sawley

Natural fibres are Caroline’s passion. She works with the finest merino, wensleydale and silk fibres to create wearable art, wall hangings, felted items and felted glass. The driving force behind her work is the mix of textures, colour and the unusual.

KGR Glass - K Grace Rogerson

Grace is known for her window and wall hangings using inspiration from the area around her home town of Dumfries. Her designs can be conventional but are often quirky, using colourful glass to make beautiful gifts and pieces of unique art, incorporating driftwood and seaglass from the Solway Firth.

Red Squirrel Crafts - Beth Currie

Beth works with tiny crochet hooks, fine cotton thread and beads to create unusual and beautiful jewellery. Her pieces are inspired by the vibrant colour and natural beauty of Galloway: her designs include flowers, leaves, butterflies, sun and snowflakes.

Aldaron Woodcrafts - Gabriel Vindt & Iona Dunbar

Gabriel and Iona use wood from trees grown in Galloway to make chopping boards, clocks, benches and house signs. They use pyrography to apply artwork and designs by hand. Their designs are inspired by nature and especially the seasons of the year.

Gina Lillycrop Designs - Gina Lawson

Gina is a soft furnishings designer. specialising in handmade designer children’s rugs and room decorations, as well as bespoke handmade lampshades, cushions, curtains, blinds and pelmets and interior decorations.

Galloway Photography - Dave & Beth Currie

Dave and Beth are photographer ‘inspired by nature’ and the beauty of the area they live in at Glentrool. Their work ranges widely through the literal , as wildlife, landscapes and dark skies, to the more abstract with close-up and long exposure photography.
