Scottish Opera head for Galloway

The curiously named Daniel’s Beard ensemble provided a feast of melody, technique and good listening at Newton Stewart & District Music Club’s first concert of the season on Sunday, October 14, at Newton Stewart Cinema.

The programme consisted of three pieces, by Vaughan Williams, Franz Schreker and Ernst Dohnanyi. Unknown to most of the audience, as they are rarely heard, the music was a revelation, beautifully played and interpreted by the very gifted artists. It was an evening of pleasure and enlightenment for the appreciative audience.

A very special event is next for the music club as Scottish Opera is bringing its new production of La Traviata to the Cinema on Thursday, November 15. This should be a very popular offering and tickets are available at the Cinema.
