Exhibition opens

The Tolbooth Art Centre in Kirkcudbright continues its 2012 exhibition programme with its third photography exhibition of the year, now showing the work of Jane McLachlan and Lesley Rankine.

Jane McLachlan is an emerging fine art photographer. Since graduation she has begun to build her practice around her passion for the natural environment here in Dumfries and Galloway. Having spent twenty years as a social worker and art therapist, Jane has a strong connection with the lives of others and is interested in the potential for healing and social engagement through the medium of photography.

Lesley Rankine returned to photography after more than a decade long absence, having primarily focused on her music career. She had only previously used 35mm film cameras and worked exclusively in black and white. When she picked up her first digital camera a few years ago she discovered … colour! Her love of photography was reawakened, inspired by the often overlooked beauty of the everyday objects, places and landscapes in Dumfries and Galloway.

The exhibition runs until Sunday, May 13. The Tolbooth is open from 11am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday, and 2- 5pm on Sundays. Admission is free.
