A cute picture of a pet pooch has helped a New Galloway woman win her coal supply for a year.

Jane Trueman entered a photo competition which asked Fergusson Coal customers to send in a picture of their own coal fire.

Jane and daughter Amelia’s miniature sausage dog Delilah is fond of sitting in front of their own fire, so Amelia snapped her in her favourite pose and sent it off.

Jane said: “Delilah loves sleeping in front of the fire, so we just thought it would be nice to get a photo of her for the competition. Amelia took a few different shots and we sent one away, but we really just forgot about it. It was a really nice surprise.”

Jane has been getting her coal from Fergusson Coal’s Kirkcowan depot for around 15 years and uses around 50 bags a year – so the win will save her over £1000.

The competition ran across Scotland for six months. Distribution area manager John Macauley said: “We received some fantastic entries for the competition across all our depots and the photos were of a very high standard. It was great to see so many people getting involved and taking creative pictures of their fires. We’re delighted to present this prize to a valued customer, and look forward to continuing our relationship with Mrs Trueman.”
