Stranraer paramedics held a glamorous Christmas Ball last weekend to raise funds for ‘Safe Drive Stay Alive’, an educational campaign to reduce deaths on the road.

Thanks to the Blue Light Charity Ball held at North West Castle a total sum of £2,400 was raised. Pictured above are some of the organisers of the ball.

Organiser Amanda Mclorey said: “The aim of the ‘Safe Drive, Stay Alive’ Road Show is to cut the number of drivers killed or seriously injured on our roads, by educating new and pre-drivers in an emotive and hard hitting way. Statistics show that young drivers are much more likely to be involved in a crash on the roads, often due to inexperience and a lack of knowledge of the risks.

“The aim is to influence their behaviour in a constructive and positive manner.”
