Cats’ Corner

This week, South Ayrshire Cats Protection are seeking a home for Pippa, a 18-month-old semi-long hair tabby cat. Pippa has been hard at work recently raising her kittens and is now looking for rest, relaxation and to be thoroughly spoiled! She is certainly craving attention and likes nothing better than to be made a fuss of. She is okay with older children, but would enjoying being the only pet in the house. Pippa will need regular grooming to keep her coat looking stunning. Pippa has just been neutered and given her vaccinations, flea/worm prevention treatment and a full health check so is raring to go her new home.

Despite several recent appeals we still haven’t found homes for Jello or Freckles - female tortes. Full details of the girls can be found on our website, southayrshire.cats.org.uk, or via our facebook page, Cats Protection South Ayrshire Branch. Our new River st office is nearly up and running to full capacity, so we can still be contacted by phone on 08453 714216.

Many schools and youth groups are starting to work on arts and crafts ideas for re-sale at their respective Christmas fairs. We would like to remind them about the Yellow Moon company. Anyone buying Christmas makes, crafts, gifts or even party bags toys through www.yellowmoon.org.uk/ can support our work by simply typing in South Ayrshire Cats Protection at the online check out. A percentage of the order will be donated to us, at no extra cost to the purchaser. If we all start now and remember to enter this during our shopping we can make it a very merry Christmas for the homeless cats of Ayrshire.

We are starting to see many young kittens being rehomed for the second time, as they appear not to be getting on with existing pets or maybe those who bought a kitten on a whim a few weeks ago have realised how much effort is required to keep a kitten happy. Anyone buying any pet should think it through carefully and do your research - our experienced/trained volunteers are on hand to offer advice, including compatibility issues with existing cats, how to introduce a kitten to other pets and so on. This service is completely free so please give us a ring before any purchase. Regardless of where you source a kitten or cat, our neutering vouchers are available to all, in a bid to reduce the number of unwanted cats.
