At the end of a season which started on September 12, 2012, the Stewartry Camera Club held its annual dinner and presentations in the Murray Arms Hotel, Gatehouse, on March 27.
John Houfe, chairman for the evening, welcomed 38 members and guests, including the judge for the evening, Alan Wright, the acclaimed photographer from Parton, to what was a most enjoyable evening. After an excellent meal provided by the hotel, John gave a summary of the club’s activities over the season, the highlight being the open day in Kirkcudbright on October 17 which attracted more than 200 visitors. He then turned to the main part of the evening, emphasising that the images which were up for the various prizes were the best from more than 225 images submitted over the six competitions held during the season.
Before announcing the trophy winners, Alan congratulated those who had made the final selection and complimented them on the very high standard of images which had been presented to him for judging. Alan then presented the trophies to the winners as follows.
Stewartry Cup for the winner of Group 3: John Sproat.
Initial Rose Bowl for the winner of Group 2: Susan Gillone.
Pearce Trophy for the winner of Group 1: Mary McIlvenna.
Solway Shield for best Panel: Mary McIlvenna with Spring Tulips.
Marsden Cup for best Monochrome Print: John Smith with Side of the Loch.
Reece Shield for Most Innovative print: John Houfe with River Dee in Flood.
Stansfield Shield for best Landscape: Mary McIlvenna with Misty Morn.

John Houfe drew the evening to a close with a vote of thanks to the hotel, Alan Wright for judging the photographs, Simon Madle for his efforts as competition secretary and all those who had made the evening a great success.
Stewartry Camera Club meetings will commence again on September 11, 2013, in the new location of Ringford Village Hall, when all will be welcome.
