Jazz fans from all over the country descended on Kirkcudbright at the end of last week for the annual jazz festival.
There was loads of bands entertaining the crowds in the town and Saturday’s traditional brolly parade accompanied by the Kirkcudbright All Star Jazz band was a highlight of the festival. The Kirkcudbright All Star Jazz Band made up of musicians from bands at the festival. Everyone taking part in the parade got a commemorative medal and a bag of chocolate courtesy of the CocoaBean Company.
Organiser Leon McCaig spoke of one of the acts: “Vocalist Denise Gordon is an absolute sensation as anyone who was at her “Gospel Songs Concert” after the parade will attest - in this she was accompanied by “The Creole Clarinets” from Germany with whom she has worked before in Europe.
“Leading the brolly parade was Jennifer Milne a member of the Criterion Parade Band from Edinburgh. Also in the parade was ‘The Sheik of Araby’ is otherwise known as Willie Dwyer - an ardent jazz fan.”
