Must admit i've never done any of the cycling routes (way too unfit) but have been here several times for a day out with the kids. There's various different walking routes of different distances which have stunning scenery, my fave being at the Loch. There's also a lovely play area for the children and seating areas for picnics. The kids and I (and not forgetting the dog) love coming here on a nice day.

Kirroughtree is one of the Seven Stanes MTB centres. It is perhaps a little far off the beaten track out towards Newton Stewart in the Scottish Borders, but thoroughly well worth the visit. There is a good visitor centre and a bike shop (with rentals). The cafe at the visitor centre is OK, and is let down by the poor cake selection. There is also quite a large childrens play area.
There are green (easy - 6km), blue (moderate - 16km), red (difficult - 17km) and black (severe - 14km) routes. The green and blue routes are nice and tame. The red is very enjoyable and quite technically challenging in places. The black (which incorporates the famous McMoab) is extremely challenging, but so rewarding. If you have about 4 -5hrs to spare go out on the red route, join the black route then return on the remainder of the red route.
This trail centre is a must for all MTBer’s.
