Pupils enjoy a true Scots feast
Penninghame Scots Feast1
PRIMARY one and two at Penninghame Primary had a ‘Burns Feast’ as part of a school-wide focus on Scotland.
The feast was organised by Primary two with a little help from their teacher Mrs Hudson.
They wrote invitations to the primary one pupils whose teacher, Mrs Birch, kindly agreed to hold the Feast in her classroom. They also wrote to ask parents to donate vegetables and shortbread for the Feast. All the children had great fun decorating the classroom in a Scottish theme.
On the day itself the children were busy peeling, cutting and mashing the vegetables, ably assisted by a group of parents.
Thomas Scott, P5, was invited to ‘Address the Haggis’ and gave an amazing rendition. Some children also performed Scots poems and Highland dancing.
They finished off the whole afternoon with a round of shortbread and a lively Auld Lang Syne.
Mrs Hudson, P1/2 teacher, said: “The children all had a great afternoon and a big thank you must go to all
parents and staff who helped the P2s organise such a successful day. It really helped all the children learn about our Scottish culture and the P2s to develop their Enterprise skills.”
