LAST Wednesday, with the season of goodwill fast approaching, the Wigtown Community Shop presented representatives from Wigtown and district community groups and organisations with donations towards their funds.

Together with the committee and representatives, the volunteers gathered in the County Buildings, not only for the presentation, but also to celebrate the continued success of this local community enterprise.

In festive spirit, all those who attended were treated to a cup of coffee and some mince pies and shortbread.

Since the shop’s opening in June 2011, local groups and organisations have benefitted from £24,000 which has been raised thanks to the kind heartedness of the many people who have donated items and the customers who have managed to find a bargain of two whilst visiting he shop. It is, indeed, as described: Wigtown’s own ‘Aladdin’s Den’.

Twenty-five groups / organisations received funds this time around and before the presentations were made, the volunteers and committee were thanked for their time and efforts in making the shop a huge success.

The winter hours for the Community Shop are now in operation. Why not pay a visit at 7 High Street, Wigtown. Monday to Saturday 10.00am to 3.30pm.
