Stranraer walker found dead on Arran

THE body of a Stranraer man believed to have headed to Arran on a hillwalking expedition has been found on the island.

Galloway Past Picture

Galloway Past picture

This week’s Galloway Past picture was e-mailed to The Galloway Gazette by Stewart McDowall, formerly of Newton Stewart, now living in Normandy, France.

Stewart says this photo of the Wild Cats Skiffle Group was taken on August 6th, 1956, before a Pageant Concert.

Left to right:- Alister McDonald, Roy Bibby, Tommy Allen, Gordon Keir, Morris Muir and Stewart McDowall.

We had good feedback about the badminton photograph that appeared in the paper on February 10th.

The names were now have are:

Back row - Bertie McKeand, not known, Ethel McKenzie, Fraser McKenzie, Jean McKenzie.

Front row - Millie Gault (later Mrs George Edwards), Nurse Jeffery, not known, Peggy Campbell, Mary Watson.
